Pep the Messiah

I never really wanted to write this but my love for watching the pep's city play amazing and beautiful football is forcing me to drop this little post

'Fraudiola' was a common name used to describe Pep Guardiola over the course of last season, but it is fair to say that the Spaniard has silenced his doubters so far this campaign.

Manchester City currently sit atop the Premier League table, eight points clear of their closest rivals and have got there playing a brand of football best described as 'alien' to fans of the Premier League.

With that in mind, it is fair to say that Pep Guardiola is so far succeeding in proving himself once again.

The Spaniard has managed to record a start to the season unrivalled by even his great Barcelona and Bayern Munich teams of the past, with his stats so far this campaign the best of his managerial career.

City have racked up 31 points from their first 11 league games of the season, a figure that Guardiola only ever reached once with Bayern back in 2015/16, but even then the Bavarians had an inferior goal difference to City. With Barca, the zenith was a return of 28 points during the 2008-09 and 2010/11 seasons.

However it is worth noting that last season's return of 24 points at this stage was the worst of Guardiola's career, with the 46-year-old having previously never dropped below 27 points with either Barca or Bayern.

These are Guardiola's career stats after 11 league games of each season:

2008-09 BARCELONA W9 D1 L1 GF 36 GA 8. 28 POINTS
2009-10 BARCELONA W8 D3 L0 GF 29 GA 8. 27 POINTS
2010-11 BARCELONA W9 D1 L1 GF 25 GA 8. 28 POINTS
2011-12 BARCELONA W8 D3 L0 GF 36 GA 5. 27 POINTS

2013-14 BAYERN W9 D2 L0 GF 24 GA 7. 29 POINTS
2014-15 BAYERN W8 D3 L0 GF 27 GA 3. 27 POINTS
2015-16 BAYERN W10 D1 L0 GF 33 GA 4. 31 POINTS

2016-17 MANCHESTER CITY W7 D3 L1 GF25 GA10. 24 POINTS
2017-18 MANCHESTER CITY W10 D1 L0 GF 38 GA 7. 31 POINTS
