Rising to become the president of a nation is arguably the most distinct and demanding honour imaginable. Yet, there are also many perks to such a powerful position. Presidential Palace, Warsaw, Poland

Designed by the Polish architect Chrystian Piotr Aigner, the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, Poland was first erected in 1643. But it wasn't until 1818 that the structure was used for bureaucratic purposes. The front of the building features a statue of Józef Poniatowski, a Polish general, who eventually became a Marshal of the French Empire in 1813.

Belém Palace, Lisbon, Portugal

Located in Lisbon, Portugal, the Belém Palace was completed in 1754. At first, the building housed the various kings of Portugal. In 1910, however, the building became the official residence for the presidents of the republic. 

Palácio da Alvorada, Brasilia, Brazil

Designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, Palácio da Alvorada was completed in 1958. The presidential residence, located in Brasilia, went through an extensive renovation between 2004 and 2006 that cost more than $18 million. 

Élysée Palace, Paris, France

Opened in 1722, Paris’s Élysée Palace has been the official residence of the French president since 1848. Built by Armand-Claude Molet, the building is a stunning example of classical architecture. 

Presidential Palace of Suriname, Paramaribo, Suriname

Constructed in 1730, the Presidential Palace of Surinamewaswaswas built in the Dutch Colonial style. The South American country was a colony of Holland until the 1970s. 

Presidential Palace, Hanoi, Vietnam

The Presidential Palace in Hanoi is the official home of Vietnam’s president. Completed in 1906 by French architect Auguste Henri Vildieu, the Beaux Arts building is painted a bright yellow. 

Kremlin, Moscow, Russia

The Moscow Kremlin is a fortified, 68-acre complex built in the heart of the city. Constructed at the end of the 15th century, the Kremlin saw different eras of renovations, as various rulers assumed power in the country. Today, the complex is home to Russia’s president. 

Palace of Turkish President, Ankara, Turkey

Located in the capital city of Ankara, the Palace of Turkish President was designed in the Seljuk style (the Seljuks ruled parts of the Middle East between the 11th and 13th centuries). The complex, in total, spans an area of 3.2 million square feet. 

Prague Castle, Prague, Czech Republic

Prague Castle is the official residence of the president of the Czech Republic. A mix of Renaissance and Gothic architecture, the building dates from the ninth century. With an area of almost 754,000 square feet, Prague Castle is the largest castle complex in the world. 

Bellevue Palace, Berlin, Germany

Completed in 1786, Berlin’s Bellevue Palace was built by German architect Michael Philipp Daniel Boumann in the neoclassical style. Although the building has always been owned by the government, it only became the official presidential residence in 1994. 

Akorda Presidential Palace, Astana, Kazakhstan

Located in Kazakhstan’s capital city of Astana, Akorda Presidential Palace opened in 2004. The palace, which is 262 feet tall, includes a blue-and-gold dome topped with a spire. The structure was worked on by architects, engineers, designers, and builders from ten different countries. 

Hofburg Palace, Vienna, Austria

Finished in 1279, Hofburg Palace in Vienna is a marvelous example of Baroque architecture. Designed by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, the building was once the seat of kings from the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, as well as the residence of the emperor of Austria until 1918. Today, it’s home to the Austrian president. 

Quirinal Palace, Rome

The Quirinal Palace is situated in Quirinal Hill, which is one of the highest of the seven hills in Rome, Italy. It is also known as the Palazzo del Quirinale or Quirinale in Italian. This historic building was the residence of popes and kings in the past and now is the official residence of the President of the Italian Republic. There is a fountain in the square called Monte Cavallo right in front of the palace. There is also a Pauline chapel inside where musical concerts are held. The palace was initially built as a summer palace by Pope Gregory XIII in the late 1500s to stay away from the summer heat and malaria which was a problem in the area, and was later extended and adorned by a succession of renowned architects. The building also houses a number of rare tapestries, furniture, paintings, sculptures, and historic carriages.

White House, Washington D.C., United States

The White House is the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States. It stood as a symbol of Presidency for many years. It is located in Washington D.C. The site for the office building was chosen by the first president of the US, George Washington in 1791 and its construction began in 1792. During the war of 1812, it was set on fire by the British. The house was rebuilt and renovated several times later. In the 19th century, there were several plans to expand the President's House or to build a new house. However, these plans were never implemented.

Ak Orda Presidential Palace, Astana, Kazakhstan

The Ak Orda Presidential Palace is the official workplace of the President of Kazakhstan. It is located in the capital city of Astana. It is one of the most interesting attractions in Astana. The palace looks magnificent with its white body and a blue and golden dome at the top. Its construction began in 2001 and was completed in 2004. 

Rashtrapati Bhavan, India

The Rashtrapati Bhavan is the official residence of the President of India. It is located in New Delhi, India. Its construction began in the year 1912 by a British architect when it was decided that a residence would be built for the British Viceroy, and the capital of India would be shifted from Calcutta to Delhi. The construction was completed in 1929. The architecture of the vast red and cream sandstone structure is spectacular. It has a combination of Western and Indian designs. It is the largest residence of a Head of State in the world. 

Aso Rock, FCT Abuja, Nigeria

This is the official residence of the president of Nigeria. It's located in the capital city of Abuja. It is located close to the popular site Aso Rock, hence the name.
