Well, The Nigerian Church is all these and more. Christianity from the early and first bible description/definition was/is a way of life, but the modern day church has reduced it to being a religion as seen on our Facebook profiles while registering and forms filled. This form of religiousness to an extent forgot the lifestyle aspect and became a Sunday thing. You see the thing about religion is that it tends to give persons a certain wrong high notion of themselves, making them believe that if it isn't them or if you aren't with them you're doomed. It gives people the right to judge others with the mindset that they're on the right side, but looking at the state of the church in this country its safe to say that the progress it's supposed to make has been downhill. We are among the most spiritual/religious countries of the world but yet still ranking high amongst the most corrupt nations of the world. Our religiousness seems to derive pleasure and gain nourishment from condemning others and/or bringing them down, which is why it is very easy and pleasurable to condemn -or sometimes doom to hell- that young person listening to songs that aren't done by a gospel artist or aren't gospel at all, that gay boy, or that transgendered female or that girl working on the corner with her body to get ends meet or that muslim.

These days your level of spirituality is measured by how much of tongues you can speak and how much anger you can put or show in your prayers. Its funny how we've transformed this loving God into a holy assassin. Its also wonderful and amazing how people are made to believe the christian life is all roses, thats why God has been made into a holy ATM, now don't get me wrong as a christian you can be stinky rich and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it be as wealthy and stupid rich as you want if you can, but what's wrong is that this is how some folks now draw sheep into the fold, this and performance of miracles for some (church advertisement).
Wealth isn't gotten by how much you pray for it or dependent on your religion, but on your work -the quality of the service you give. There's place for faith, but even faith without your work is dead.

The church wasn't made for people who thought they were actually already righteous it was made for the weak, for those who thought that they have been forgotten by the supreme being. Religion is supposed to preach peace, but so far has endorsed wars, religion was supposed to showforth love and more love, but it has taught to love only your kind. I remember when Christ summarised the ten commandments, when he said "...love your neighbours as yourself..."

It's time folks Wake up and remember or realise the purpose of Christ's coming wasn't to establish a new religion, heck Christ himself was a jew, but his coming was to reconcile man back to God. He didn't come to condemn sinners but to love them back to the father and those that acted and did things like christ then were called Christians, but now a days the church keeps acting like the same people they have preached about and against, the Pharisees and those who do act like a Christ are seen a weak christians or not true believers.
