Lamentations Of A Stupid Idiot

This poem begins with me residing in your heart
With you booking a room for me in your thoughts
You built a wall so big about me with the whole of you,
But left the gates wide open, so it'd be my choice to stay or leave
Fragile as you were you were bold as to wear your heart on your sleeve
You had made audience with the molecules that made up my mind

Her emotions so pure
Of this more than some other things in my life, so sure
Her heart approached me with no shield up
her guard let down and no defences at the gate
Hanging from the edge of a star holding on to uncertainty
You made your feelings known,
But stupidity was my guide on this tour in the beautiful  city of your heart

You really do not appreciate beauty till its gone
Leaving you with ashes that once were good times
Times I burned up
Burned up cos this bird still had beliefs it needed to fly/soar freely
But actually lightheaded then unconscious in this vaccum of dreams.
Waking up was too late cos that city had been raided by another
And she, whisked away by one who was bold to aim for her heart and take it
All I was left with was the ashes of a city once built
